  • Don’t laugh at cosmetic dentistry, it can enhance your NHS practice

Presented by either Dr Lance Knight or Dr Marius McGovern (depending on the venue)

Lance Knight specialises in cosmetic dentistry and treats many celebrities in North West England – including footballers and actors as well as many prominent business people. His entrepreneurial talent is now being tested as he is the leading light behind a growing chain of private practices which are flourishing even in the current financially difficult climate. A young and enthusiastic practitioner, Lance has learned many business skills which he is eager to share with colleagues whether in NHS, Private or mixed practice.

Marius McGovern was the Winner of the prestigious Dentistry ‘Best Practice North West’ award in 2008. Although focusing on the development of ‘Spa’ type practices and implant treatment, Marius remains enthusiastic about the potential of his NHS practices. In all his practice ventures he has embraced the business concepts which have allowed him to continue to care for patients uninterrupted by the need to devote excessive amounts of time to administrative duties. His enthusiasm is infectious; making him a fascinating speaker.

  • Negotiating with everyone about money and more

    Presented by Sim Goldblum
Sim spent most of his working life in a large multi-national company dealing with the many aspects of the business side of buying, selling and running companies. Originally trained as an economist, he has lectured to business school attendees on the practical aspects of understanding and using both money and management to best effect. Theory is fine but there is no substitute for actually doing it! He has brought this expertise to ‘The Dentistry Business’ for the last four years, benefiting many practices by enabling them to understand how their finances can be controlled. ‘Finance for the Frightened’ and ‘Negotiation is Positive’ are just two of the topics he has successfully brought to the dental arena.

  • Don’t let dentistry ruin your business

    Presented by Dr Carl Parnell
Carl is a former Merseyside VT Regional organiser and Associate Dean who was a multiple practice owner. Latterly he converted from NHS to private practice. He was a member of GDSC for many years and an adviser to the Dental Defence Union (DDU). His wide experience has made him expert in the regulatory framework surrounding dental practice. In the last four years he has been an integral part of ‘The Dentistry Business’, helping practices to conform with the ever-changing welter of regulations which threaten to take dentists away from their primary job of treating patients. Conforming to current legislative rules and regulations can be a challenge and Carl has helped to re-organise many practices so that compliance is no longer a problem - thus allowing practice principals the time to care for patients.

  • Dealing with Royalty

    Presented by Dr Lester Ellman
Lester has run two separate Private Practices and two mainly NHS practices. He now runs just one practice with an emphasis on cosmetic dentistry but with a general dental base. For the last four years he has been involved in ‘The Dentistry Business’, working with practitioners in the general running of the practice to improve both profitability and the treatment of the patients. Lester has been writing about Practice Management for more than 25 years and during that time has visited many practices and helped many dentists re-shape their management structure to achieve a better work-life balance. An experienced speaker, he will help you get more patients to accept your ideas.
